Tricks to Dropshipping on Etsy
Each marketplace has its own listing design and fee structure. Always make sure you understand the platform before listing your items. Etsy as a marketplace is not very fond of people dropshipping on their platform, but there are specific way to go about it.
As a beginner you need to choose a niche, probably women’s clothing, anime, jewelry and TV shows but mostly not copyright infringement. This is the most crucial one, once you create a store and upload your first products, it’ll take about a week or so for you to be verified. Though there is no any direct indication of verification for now, but they do exists.
Etsy moderators will review your store to ascertain your level of compliance. If they notice any dropshipping products from Alibaba, aliexpress, or any other B2B merchant, they may likely ban your account. However, the alternative way to go around this is to integrate Printable items into your store (i.e you act as if you’re going to be selling POD wears or so) as it is allowed on the platform.
Though, selling POD wears most likely won’t generate a good sale for you, since there are literally thousands of POD stores on Etsy. However, it’s a very crucial step to take in order to avoid getting your account banned instantly. Once you pass the verification process, you can then add the aliexpress products.
Tips to optimize your sales on Etsy
In as much you have registered your store, get it approved, upload your products are ready for sell. There are some few tips to put into consideration to enhance your sales and easy earning on the platform:
1. Give 25% discounts on all your Products.
You have to advertise and enable 25% store-wide sale on your items. This can be achievable by knowing your actual selling price, divide it by 3 and multiply it by 4. That way you’ll get the price you need to set your product at before the sale. Under marketing, sales and coupons, make the sale and apply it to all your products.
2. Keep your Stock Low.
You have the ability to change the quantity of your items. If you keep it at 3-5, it’ll say in red letters under the listing: “Only X left and Y people have it in their carts”. Just a good little motivator for people to buy the product. Always sure you edit the quantity every once in a while so that your listing doesn’t end, otherwise you need to pay to renew it.
3. Sub Accounts and Reviews.
This is an important part to take note as a new seller on Etsy. To quickly earn money as a dropshipper on Esty this is a trick to put on. Wait for 2 weeks after the verification process of your account has passed (just to avoid getting banned), then create 2 new (sub) accounts and buy the items from yourself. In this way you can write reviews for yourself and also increase the number of sales you have because it is easier to convince a lot of people to buy something from you if you have 2 or more sales rather than 0.
Also, add most of your items into the sub account carts. So that in your main account shopping carts, it will be displaying “Only Y left and X people have it in their carts”, essentially just to motivate people to buy your item before it supposedly goes out of stock. Meanwhile, always be careful when registering the sub accounts not to let them somehow be link back to you in other to avoid your account being permanently banned.
When comes to shipping, set a price that will include the cost of your supplies, your listing, shipping fees as well as your efforts, let your processing time be 3-5 days and your shipping time be 7-21 days if you’re shipping from China.
Provide a professional customer service that includes information about how quickly the item is shipped and a way for the customer to get in touch with you if there is a problem and encourage them to leave reviews about you and the quality of your product.
Always bear in mind that note everything you see can be sold Etsy unlike under dropshipping merchants like aliexpress and 1860.com. Some items might leads to you receiving copyright infringement letter, and once you receive 3 or more copyright infringement letter, you might be banned. So make adequate research about the product you’re dropshipping on Etsy, be sure the item is sellable.
Also Etsy have a great mobile App for sellers to help you to always stay up to date with what’s trending on the store. As well as a decent paid ads for awareness campaign. The good part about Etsy dropshipping is that once your items rank in the top listings for a specific niche, they’ll keep selling without any advertising.
